Somerset County, Maine

The State of Maine is a very large State with a total area of 33,215 square miles. It has 16 counties consisting of 22 cities, 424 towns and villages, 51 plantations and 416 unorganized townships, gores and land grants. In Somerset County there are five that are very particular to Moxie Names. See selected area of Somerset County, and the enlarged map of the area. They consist of Moxie Gore, The Forks Plantation, East Moxie Township, Town of Caratunk, and Bald Mountain Township.




    The Forks Plantation
    Has a portion of Moxie Pond and its upper part, Moxie Lake


    East Moxie Township
    has the major portion of Moxie Pond, and at its most northern part, Moxie Lake which feeds into Moxie stream and into Moxie Gore. It also has in the eastern part of East Moxie Township the "Little Moxie Pond".



    Bald Mountain Township
    is located south of East Moxie Township. It has the lower part of Moxie Pond and to its south is Moxie Bog.



    Town of Caratunk
    To the south of The Forks Plantation is Caratunk, where there is Moxie Mountain.



    Moxie Gore
    Moxie Gore is Located North of The Forks Plantation and East Moxie Township. Moxie Lake feeds Moxie Stream which feeds Moxie Falls, then Moxie Stream again and outlets in the Kennebec River.
