Moxie Days

Moxie Days are the happenings of events held across the US.

The Moxie Days and 16th Annual Moxie Festival was held in Lisbon Falls, Maine on July 9 - 11, 1999. Over 30,000 people showed up on Saturday to watch the three hour long parade that stretched over three miles in the center of Lisbon Falls. This years Festival was jointly celebrated with the 200th Anniversary of Lisbon, Maine (Lisbon, Lisbon Center, Lisbon Falls).

Orange laden bodies with Moxie could be seen all over the place, as well as many members of the Moxie Congress. The Famous Moxie HorseMobile driven by Wil Markey made its last appearance in a parade. Wil Markey has sold this horsemobile, but don't be alarmed, he will be working on two new ones for next years celebrations. Have Moxie, and hope and believe. The following pictures were taken by the writer of this page in this years celebration.

The thumbnail pictures activate a larger picture that is between 71,000 bytes to 252,000 bytes. Enjoy the pictures and feel free to download them and copy them to your site. Some of these pictures were shot with a 35mm camera and others with a Ricoh digital camera.

Car in Parade actually has two front ends, two drivers and the car can be driven either way.

Even the Indians want to stop at the House of Moxie and drink the elixir that tastes so goooood.

The Shriners from Lewiston, Maine display one of their many vehicles that were part of this Moxie Festival celebration.

A Moxie my Queen. The 200th Anniversary Celebration of Lisbon, Maine Queen.

The Shriners again display their humourous antics, as the Keystone Cops chase the jailbird. No Moxie for him.

Adorning the parade is a classic car. Notice the Kennebec's House of Moxie, in the background, has a new coat of paint.

Shriners in their Jeeps doing a figure 8 formation.

That was Whampum Good. Moxie keeps you fresh and smiling, because we know what non Moxie drinkers are missing.

He says -- We want you...... to Drink Moxie

Finally, what we were all waiting for, the Moxie Horsemobile driven by Wil Markey, you can see Frank Potter waving (author of The Moxie Mystique and The Book of Moxie) and Judy Gross of the NEMC (New England Moxie Congress).

More of Wil Markey driving the Moxie Horsemobile in his splendor.

Frank Anicetti of the Kennebec's House of Moxie asks Will Markey, "How about a ride. I've just had a Moxie and I am ready to go".

Ok Frank, Hop on. And away they go.

Into the sun they drive away.

Moxie Man and Woman holding serving trays with a bottle and can of Moxie and a glass for those who need a good thirst quencher.

Parade is over and the Moxie Horsemobile is parked behing the Kennebec's House of Moxie.

Please can you give me a ride. No, Ok. How about taking my picture.

Yes, what a fine horse she is.

Yes, another innovation by Wil Markey. An animated Moxie girl pouring that thirst quenching drink that we all have learned to love and taste. Hmmmmm that tastes good.
